Before move out

Provide notice to leave in writing (2 months or 28 days depending on your tenancy agreement)

Inform my utility providers and local council of move out date

Set up mail re-direction

Prepare to complete a deep clean or arrange for professional cleaners (see guide overleaf)

Return all items to their original place in the property as per the inventory

Move out day

Switch off all heating and appliances, leave fridge/freezer slightly ajar

Take final meter readings

Make sure all windows and doors are securely locked

Make sure you have removed all your personal belongings and rubbish

Return all keys to the office along with this form. If after 5pm, please post through the door in an envelope with your name but not the property address

Move out day

Final utility bills paid (Council tax, gas, electric, broadband) and copies along with proof of payment provided to Connell & McFadden

That’s all! Once all the above has been completed and we have done the final inspection we will be able to process the return of your deposit through My Deposit Scotland.

Cleaning Guide Check List

It is your responsibility to return the property to us cleaned to a professional standard at the end of your tenancy. The below list may be used as a guide if you wish to do this yourself, but is not completely exhaustive and will depend on the property you are in. Alternatively, we can help arrange a cleaning company to attend, typical prices for a full end of tenancy clean start from around £100-£200 for a 1-2 bed property. Ask a member of our team if you would like further details.

Kitchen

Remove cobwebs, dust, and debris

Clean and disinfect all kitchen cupboards and drawers both inside and out

Clean and disinfect kitchen countertops

Remove mould and grease from wall tiles, wash down and polish

Remove lime scale and polish sink / shine taps

Clean both inside and outside refrigerator & freezer + defrost freezer

Clean microwave inside & out

Clean all kitchen appliances such as kettle, toaster, etc. inside and out

Clean washing machine, detergent drawer, seal, and filters

Clean all large appliances inside and out such as dishwasher, dryer, etc.

Clean and degrease inside of oven, polish outside parts

Clean, degrease and polish hob & grill

Clean, degrease and polish extractor fan + filters

Clean all landlord provided dishes and cookware and store correctly

Clean windows; wipe down windowsills and window ledges

Clean any window accessories – including dusting down blinds and cleaning, where required, curtains and other soft window hangings

Clean all woodwork (doors, door frames, skirting boards)

Wipe down extractor fans

Clean light switches & fittings, lamp shades, plugs, sockets

Vacuum and wash hard floors
